Steeped

How excited was I to have this beautiful little package waiting for me from the good folks from Steeped while I was away on vacation?!

When I opened it up the smell immediately took me back to my birthday trip to the spa where the aromas are always so tranquil and serene:

As you can see, I have an entire shelf in a cupboard devoted to teas! I suppose I don’t talk about them a lot on here, but I should because they are such a comforting “treat” in the evenings:

I have had the occasional loose tea experience at restaurants and cafes, but I had never made it for myself. Partly because I never had the “equipment” to strain the leaves. The first flavour I tried was this one:

They even included the best thermos travel mug ever!

LOOK YOU STEEP YOUR LOOSE TEA RIGHT IN THE MUG!!

It comes with three top components. The mesh tea strainer above and a sippy top. Both of those can be closed up tightly and leak proof by the lid on the left.

I’m tellin’ yas, timing could not be better! It’s that perfect time of year (secretly really my favourite time of the year where the crispness is back in the morning and evening air. It just feels so warm and cozy to enjoy tea again!) The Creme Carmello was really good! I added a squirt of light agave nectar in it and it felt like a perfect crisp early Fall morning treat :-) This Thermos mug kept my tea hot and sippable for HOURS. Now I actually understand why it’s worth it to invest in a good quality travel mug! I’ve been missing out!

So far Snow Cap is my favourite. I just LOVE it! It’s a green tea and you can re-use your single serving of leaves a few times over by re-steeping with new hot water. It was absolutely perfect to bring to work because I can top it up with hot water a few times and voila there’s like 5 servings of water in the form of green tea!

Look at all the aromatic goodies in the snow cap:

As you can see, I already had a bit of a tea “stash” here at my desk at work which is super convenient. But I will say that as long as I have the Steeped tea around, these won’t likely be used too much ;-)

(Poor little guys, don’t you sort of feel sorry for them? No? :-P)

Speaking of work stashes, Cat had an interesting post yesterday about her work “emergency stash” for snacks etc. I thought it would be fun to show you what I’ve got going on at my desk at work:

I picked up these little single serving packs of almond butter when I was at Whole Foods in Maine, but to my knowledge we can’t buy anything like this (insert pouty and sad face here). Hence why Cat has a jar at her office! :-) I will be sad when they run out because they are perfect for single (or double) servings of a nut butter in a pinch with some fruit = perfect snack.

Speaking of fruit, take your pick: apple, peach or grapefruit sort of displayed like normal people would put pictures of their family :-D

IMG_5675A big thank you to Steeped Tea for asking me to try out their teas! I’ve never owned such an incredible travel mug that actually keeps your drink hot for hours!

Steeped is in fact a Canadian company (they have a blog with all the background info of the company). I had never heard of them before, but it seems like you can have “tea parties” in your home the same way you would for Epicure or The Pampered Chef (which I am having this coming Saturday).

I have a feeling I’m going to want some more of these teas!

I haven’t had a chance to look thoroughly at the information, but I “think” there’s talk of using the tea in recipes even!

I don't drink tea...but your blog makes me want to. That mug looks really neat! Someone was telling me that green tea helps your metabolism...I wonder if that is true.

I want one of those cups!!

I had the girls pick up an awake tea with peppermint at S'bucks for me this morning and both of 'em wanted it! I'm lucky it made the block and a half trek back to work.

That sounds really neat! I went to a place this weekend that was a tea house, and they had a tea menu of something like 200 different varieties of teas. Plus you could get your choice of three "dainties" for afternoon tea for $6.95 or something. It was really neat, too! I luvs tea... :o)

Ha ha. I love your quip about displaying the fruit on your desk like normal people would have pictures of their families. Kind of like I have my exercise and healthy foods vision board on the wall of my bedroom where normal people might put art!

I love tea, too. It's a great evening treat, but it's gotta get a little colder here in Texas before I feel like any tea that isn't iced!

Wow, what a treat! I love hot tea. I'm glad the weather is soon to cool off. I would rather drink hot tea than a bunch of coffee anyday!

Marisa: the mug is awesome and I especially love that it has a lid to close the sippy top to keep it hot! (and of course that you can straing your tea right in it!

Jen: You'll never believe it, but they have regular mugs that do the same thing and there's one on their FB page that's RED like my kitchen stuff! NEED IT!

Bulge to Bump: yeah it's apparently true about the grean tea. It's super healthy and has shown to be effective in that area.

Allison: I wish the entire winter was like it is right now!

H-Woman: isn't it a fabulous time of year for the peppermint re-fresh tea combo?! Glad you love it!

Lainey: "dainties" eh? hmmm, sounds interesting, yet yummy!

ChezJulie: I know right! lol

Miz: you no doubt would receive freebies just for being YOU! You rock GF!

Beth: Ya never know! I'll see if there's any interest amongst "my peeps" and be in touch ;-)

Jessica: Part of the morning coffee appeal for me has to do with the ritual I "think" and so far I've been drinking a morning coffee while getting ready in the morning and taking a tea "to go" so hmmmm we shall see if I transition?!

I'm obviously late this this tea party. I hope your Pampered Chef party was fun.

You've inspired me to take a pic of my emergency stash at work. It wouldn't be as colourful as yours but it's absolutely essential for me to keep it full or I'd be attcking the vending machine when I get the mid afternoon munchies and we all know that can come to NO good.
