The Interview (and a few "behind the scenes" tidbits)

Yet another update: This interview is being re-aired on the noon CTV news inclusive of the web address :-D Thanks to CTV for that!!!

WHAT A CRAZY DAY!!!! I literally woke up this morning, got ready for work, headed out the door, glanced at my Blackberry and saw an email from Kayla Hounsell from CTV news who was interested in interviewing me for Live at 5. I was floored! I thought "wow that would be fun!" but also thinking that it would be either later this week or after I got back from vacation! Next thing ya know, my very obliging employers didn't mind if I scooted home later that morning to do the interview today to be aired tonight!

I'm tellin' yas it all happened so fast I didn't have time to get nervous until it was time to watch it on TV! My head is now pounding because I think it all has now sunk in that I was actually on the news tonight! lol

Behind the Scenes:

1. I basically had 30 minutes after I ran home, did a once over to make sure things were "presentable", figure out what the heck to wear and figure out a game plan for Lucy. As most of you know, I've been blessed with a very vocal pup!

2. I decided I wasn't going to hmmm and haw about what to wear because I could have stood there all day trying things on, so I had a gut feeling, grabbed it, put it on and done.

3. Amy arrived in enough time to pep talk me. About 2 minutes before Kayla and the cameraman arrived, I figured I would gather up Lucy's front yard leash so that it wasn't all over the place, so I bundled it up and put it along side the house. I went back inside, sat down and then I could SMELL SOMETHING BAD!!!! I STEPPED IN LUCY POO FROM OUTSIDE AND WALKED IN THE HOUSE!!!! ONLY ME PEOPLE, ONLY ME!!!! lol I grabbed my shoe and ran back outside and Amy makes a break for the Lysol wipes to quickly wipe up the floor where I walked in. THEN they pull in the driveway literally like 30 seconds later! lol

4. After we did the interview, they shot footage of me doing various things, once of which was Amy and I walking with Lucy along the street. No sooner did I predict it and the camera is rolling, sure enough Lucy decides to do #2 right on the side of the road! lol I didn't have a bag in my hand or anything of course! I could see the cameraman laughing from the distance. Grrrreeeeeeeat I'm saying to Amy. Only LUCY of course!

5. Then they were like "whip up something" in the kitchen for you and Amy! lol I'm looking in the fridge thinking "what the heck am I going to "whip up" in a pinch??? The quickest and easiest thing was salad (how cliche!) and they did a great job of editing it because I seriously had salad ALL over the counter, kept spilling it outside of the dishes and everything! lol That's sooooo meee! lol

6. Interview is over and I run back into work, then I run back just in time to see the interview all by my onesome since hubby was still jammed at work which is why he wasn't able to scoot home to do the interview with me, but thanks to the awesome PVR I was able to record it and thanks to the beautiful and adorable LEX, you get to watch it again right here on YouTube! I seriously love you guys!!! You have always had my back which was the entire point of the interview!!

Time to come back down to earth now :-P

Added later: P.S. Do you think its okay that they didn't plug my blog address??

I was told that they don't usually do that and that they wait for people to call them to ask for it. That sounds absurd to me. No one will be able to find my blog after watching this story because "Angie All The Way" wasn't even mentioned. I'm a bit sad about that!

Further update: Yay for CTV! They ran it on Breakfast Television this morning and I was told by a viewer that they did, indeed plug the address. Thanks!

GREAT job - not just on the interview but on your journey to date.
Congrats!

Don't worry about them not putting your blog up. I think they're not allowed to do that because it's then kind of "advertising" for you?

Angie All The Way said...

Thanks so much everyone, it all happened so fast, crazy!

Re the not plugging the blog: the SHOULD have provide the web address since that was what the story was about. How is someone going to benefit from my story if they can't find it? That was the reason I agreed to do it. For me, the entire point is to try to help other people with 100+ lbs to lose see that it's ENTIRELY possible.

Congrats Angie, that's awesome!! I used to work in TV news and know aaaalll about how fast it moves, gotta meet those deadlines! :P It is in fact quite normal not to put web addresses on the air. For one, it's awkward to read them, and it's kinda hokey to plug things. But that doesn't mean they never do it. That end bit with Bruce and Star would have been the perfect opportunity for them to plug it!

You sounded great too, congrats on all your success :D

As they pitched your blog as a support to not only you but others who want to lose weight - it seems ridiculous that they didn't put in the address. I bet they are going to get a ton of callers asking for it - and I'm glad they are putting it up now!

PS I love Lucy!

Lori said...

Congratulations!! You did great! I'm sure you will be an inspiration to many. I'm glad they plugged your blog on the breakfast addition. I think they should have put that on!

I agree with Susan. Bruce and Star should of mentioned your blog adderess. But I'm sure they will have people calling in to get it. You sure didn't have anytime to think about anything, you did so well. Figures you had to step in some poo, anything to add more stress to the situation. But I guess Lucy thought that wasn't enough.LOL

P.S. You looked and sounded perfect.
