I love my oatmeal and even though it climbed up to crazy hot temps early in the day, I needed a good hearty bowl of oatmeal to start:
The mix:
- 1/3c oats, 1/2c unsweetened chocolate almond breeze, 1/2c water
- 1/2 banana
- pinch of salt, splash of vanilla, dashes of cinnamon
- 1 tbsp sprouted ground chia seeds
- Toppings: hulled hemp seeds, mini dark chocolate chips, unsweetened coconut, sliced natural almonds, cashew-almond butter, Artisana cocoa bliss crumbled on top
I loved it, it was soooo goood. I enjoyed it on my front porch:
Even though it was scorching outside I was craving oatmeal, so that’s what I made, but I had my homemade greek yogurt on my mind and for lunch I stumbled upon an amazing more “summarized oatmeal substitute” breakfast option that is the perfect hot summer day from the oatmeal that I love so much. I give you..I suped up yogurt parfait :-D:
As we know, a great bowl of oatmeal is all about the toppings, so the same can be said about a great yogurt parfait combo. Of course the thicker creamier greek yogurt definitely added to it! This combo consisted of:
- 1/2c homemade plain non-fat greek yogurt + 1/4c Liberte vanilla svelte yogurt mixed together (2 POINTS)
- 2-3 tbsp unsweetened granola (bulk barn variety) (approx 1.5 POINTS)
- 1/2c thawed frozen raspberries (local from Farm Girl’s farm) (0.5 POINTS)
- 1/2 tbsp unsweetened coconut (0.5 POINTS)
- 1 tbsp crumbled Artisana cocoa bliss (2 POINTS)
- 1 tbsp sliced natural almonds (1 POINT)
- = 7.5 POINTS
I would have added hemp & chia seeds, but I already had them for breakfast, so didn’t feel the need to over do it. They would be a great nutritional addition.
This particular parfait is a bit indulgent to the tune of about 7 POINTS but it covers all your nutritional bases. You can be as creative as you want with the toppings adding or subtracting as you see fit. I loved it and it kept me satisfied for hours. Not your regular “snack-sized” yogurt!

Congrats for counting points again Angie. I have loved looking at your food pics and the addition of points values is so great. I have never been able to lose an ounce without counting. I think it is an awesome system and helps me to feel in control no matter what I am eating. And it really does not require any kind of reliance on processed or packaged foods, I have never looked at it that way.
Angie- I have read your blog off and on for some time, but I don't think I've commented. Just want you to know that I am so impressed with your progress thus far and I look forward to continuing to follow your journey!
I had oats on Saturday morning even though it was a zillion degrees out. Their staying power outweighs it all! ;)
That being said I have been eating a lot of yogurt lately too, going to attempt the Greek stuff on the week with some plain Liberte. Thanks for the demo the other day!
Wow, Angie - that is an awesome looking parfait!
Counting POINTS is a great tool for accountability and since you're coming back to it after trying some other things, it will be fresh and new for you again! You have showed us all how well it works with your incredible weight loss! I have been struggling with my own POINTS demons lately and decided to head into "intuitive eating" land - remember our "talks" about that??!! Weight loss is such a crazy journey, but it's comforting to know that we always have a great plan that we know works there for us when we need it! I know you'll do great - you're a Rock Star!!
MMMMM!!!!! OMG!!!!! That looks SOOOOOO good!!!!
You gonna make me some of that yummy oatmeal in October???
I love those dishes...oh yeah...and the food! ;-)
Awesome job counting points! Not that I do it, but I congratulate you on it. :) Your breakfast and lunch made me hungry!
