What Do You Coffee Pros Call This?

This deliciousness needs a name! Is it an iced latte? blended coffee? Mocha? Help me out here gurus!

WIth all the hot weather we had in Halifax the last little while, I have developed a new way to enjoy a cold treat (P.S. I attribute my new found addiction to iced americanos and iced coffees in general to Mousearoo and a certain exchange of an unwanted iced americano that had sugar free hazelnut syrup in it by mistake in Toronto and which made it's way into my hands in Halifax that very same day via Twitter a few weeks ago :-D Gotta love social media and it's influences. Okay maybe you had to be there lol)

Anyhoo, while iced coffees never appealed to me before, all of a sudden I'm drooling over them! Over the hot weekend a weekend (pre-hurricane Bill and it's defeat by Nova Scotia), I decided to save my leftover morning coffee and put the pot in the fridge for some experimenting later.

The result:

We have here:

  • an obvious obsession with all things Empire Red KitchenAid Appliances :-D
  • 1c unsweetened chocolate Almond Breeze
  • 1c cold brewed coffee
  • splash of blend cream
  • squirt of Amoretto Agave Nectar
  • Lots of ice
  • = 2.5 - 3 POINTS

  • PERFECTION

Oh and since then, I replaced the splash of blend cream with a dolop of the homemade greek yogurt "Liberte No Fat Svelte style" (see I'm having trouble naming things!) and it was AWESOME.

And I must pick up some of the Agave Nectar!!

I can't help with naming this as I don't even know how to properly order Sbux drinks hehe!

I know this sounds really gross but sometimes I blend old coffee with ice and 1/2 of non fat cottage cheese it totally gives it that frappacino consistancy and adds a little protein to my mid afternoon snack

I'm such a bad influence :)

I always make too much coffee, store the rest in the fridge and have it with a 1/4 of chocolate milk! YUM!

I am with Jen on the name. Mocha Breeze is genius!

Angie,

I would have to say that you should call it a " coffee breeze" because of the use of brewed coffee and the almond breeze you used in it..

Speaking of almond breeze///hehe I am thinking about buying some during my next grocery trip... does it taste like almonds??? I am very scared of almond taste...

Let me know at latteashley@blogspot.com

thanks,

Would it be bad if I added a little Kahlua? ;)

Oh those are great names! Jen, I like "Mocha Breeze" and I also like Louises' "Light Mocha Almond Frappacino" too!

TOSS UP!

going clean: that's INTERESTING..hmmmm.. once upon a time I wouldn't be putting spinach in my smoothies either, but times have changed :-)

Peabody: khalua would be PERFECT! ;-)

latteashley: No I don't find that Almond Breeze tastes like almonds at all! In fact it's the only non-dairy "milk" that I've ever liked. I don't drink soy milk. Almond milk has a really refreshing quality to it and you'll find yourself wondering how the heck they make milk out of almonds and come up with something so light in calories. I love it!
