Reviews: Swing & a Miss

I've had a few Vega products to review with the first one being a flop if you remember the berry flavour health optimizer I added to my morning smoothie that morning and the Vega Sport that I added to my water pre-bootycamp workout which was drinkable, but I didn’t experience any noticeable difference in my workout.

This time around I have the Whole Food Vibrance Bar a try.  I’m a major coconut cream pie, peanut butter cookie and cashew cookie Larabar fan and so far those have been my unquestionable favourite snack bars.  These Vibrance Bars are around the same size as Larabars and come in at around the same amount of calories.

It was just “0kay.”  Maybe if I didn’t have the coconut cream pie larabar to compare it to, I’d think it was better, but those are some big shoes to fill!  Sorry Vega, I’m still trying!  Although I will say that it’s chewier than the Larabar and I like chew!  I do still have a few more samples to try and I am hopeful that they will stack up!

Next up was that I finally got around to trying overnight oats a la Kath and I went with the strawberry-banana combo:

I wanted to love it guys, I DID, especially being a quick and cooler oatmeal alternative for a busy summer work morning, but guys I didn’t love it at all.  I ended up eating some of it and packing it up to take to work and I warmed it up as a snack later on.  Heated up, it wasn’t as bad, but no where near as good as stove top oats.

Indeed it did take me at least 15 tries before I went from being oatmeal hater to oatmeal LOVER!  So don’t despair, I will try and try again!

Hey...I had the PB one too today! Must have been some sort of Blogger Cosmic Happening! It is to die for, but Coconut Cream Pie is still my all time FAVE!
As for the oats, I would skip all the milk, and just stick with the yogurt and fruit. I love that as an alternative in the summer, when hot oatmeal just seems too hot!

Hey you....still going at it eh? Awesome. I'm back (yet again) to blogging and I'm actually going to try to keep it up for a change. I have a new laptop so it shouldn't be too hard considering I'm typing right now from my bed! :-)

Great to see you are still inspiring the peeps out there. Thanks for the product reviews as well, God knows I need to switch it up a bit so new foods choices are always welcome.

I tried the lemon larabar yesterday. I did not love it but it was okay.

Have you made them Angie?

Results?

I so wish I was an oatmeal fan. I just can not love it. And I have tried.

It makes me sad because it looks so filling and good for you.

I LOVE oatmeal, but I'm not sure I could do the overnight oatmeal. Seems a bit strange to me. :)

I DO love how you are willing to try again!!!

For YEARS I was a super picky eater and didn't like things because I didn't THINK I liked them, or tried them once and didn't like them...now I have a whole list of foods I LOVE because I "trained" myself to eat them (red onions, cucumber, most seafood) and I have a list of foods that I want to love (weird right??)

You are such an awesome chick...just felt the need to add that in! xoxo

I am just getting to where I love oatmeal. I've wondered about the overnight oats. Sounds kinda mushy. But I guess that is what oatmeal is right? Anyway, have you tried Kath's Banana Baked Oatmeal. That is amazing! Though I used pumpkin in place of the one mushed banana.

I'm with you on the overnight oats. I've tried it twice, once with milk and once with yogurt. It's just not as good as the stovetop version.
