Boooo Berry Vega

Monday.Coffee.’nuff said.

I’m getting quite adventurous with these smoothies I have to say.  Adventurous enough that I decided I’d try one of these Vega packets in place of my usual protein powder.  The entire shake consisted of:

The verdict?  Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.IMG_3838

I am NOT a fan of this berry Vega stuff.  I tried to save the smoothie by adding some cashew-almond butter and some PB2 but I only drank half of it and I decided I wasn’t going to force myself to drink something I didn’t like.  I am just barely getting over the colour of the them with the spinach, so I felt I’d just leave it at that!

By mid-morning I had half of a Cosmic Cookie and life was good again:

And some more fresh berries (of course):

  IMG_3843Who doesn’t like oranges?  You’re nuts.

And the lobster sub is back at Subway (as you may have gathered from my impromptu blackberry post at lunch time today.  I couldn’t help myself because they are AMAZING!  If there’s any time to ever ask for “double the meat,” this is it:

These baked southwestern ranch chips aren’t bad either:

Supper was awesome.  Remember the Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette I made that went along with the guest post on ZestyCooks blog today?  I became the world’s best glaze for brussels sprouts!  I had the other half of the leftover file of salmon and a scoop of homemade potato salad and the brussels sprouts were the star by far:

And my favourite dessert in the world, strawberry shortcake:

Not the most figure-friendly version in the world (homemade whipped cream and everything), but worth every single bite:

Dang it was good :-)

I totally understand your urge to drink that smoothie - but I'm glad you didn't.

You asked about the oranges, in jest I know, and what I found hilarious, is, except for the veggies (I use your brussels sprouts recipe and just bought some yesterday actually, I love it so much) and the baked lays I wouldn't actually eat any of the things you ate today - I'm not a fruit lover OR a fish eater!! You are my bizarro eater. Or I'm yours!! HAHA

Angie, I wanted to ask you something about the green monsters -- do you find that you miss CARBS in the morning? I know you always used to have oatmeal and stuff like that, and I ALWAYS eat granola or other cereals in the a.m. I'm trying to switch to the green monsters, but I find I'm starving by 9:30 and want to eat an entire loaf of bread. Did you ever get that? Did you body get used to the smoothies?

Have you tried the chocolate or vanilla Vega? We're Vega addicts here at Booty Camp HQ :p

Fatinah: are you my husband posing as an awesome blogger? :-P

Andrea: that's funny you should ask that because I've experienced two reactions to these smoothies for breakfast. The first is that it does, indeed keep my full until lunch time on most days, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything. It is full of carbs (just complex carbs in the form of fruit & veggies). The other side is that I experienced a MAJOR craving for bread last week and I went a bit over board. When I reviewed my meals, I realized I was on day 3 without having any bread (unintentionally) but my body totally wanted it!

I miss oatmeal totally, but lately the GM's have been a quick go-to breakfast that I can take to go!

Lisa: I have a chocolate one ready to go and I haven't given up on the Vega, but the Berry one does not get my stamp of approval so far! ;-)
