Bloggers in the City - Friday Evening: The Bier Market & The Devils Martini

IMG_2941

It was game seven of the Stanley Cup Friday night and there was no shortage of attention to it at the Bier Market where the 6 of us set out for a Supper and for my first time trying a “flavoured” beer. I have never been a beer fan ever so this was somewhat of a point worth noting!

I absolutely loved it and I had at least 2 (maybe 3) and I’d definitely order one of these puppies again if I ever came across them!

For appetizers, we all shared some of the best poutine I’ve ever had ever!

For my entree I ordered the Organic Salmon over Roasted Beet.

I can’t emphasize enough how perfect the candied walnuts, crumbled goat cheese and beets were together in a bed of spinach. I think you’ll be seeing many variations of this in the future ;-)

Albeit the salmon was overdone, but I absolutely loved it. I LOVE beets and LOVE goat cheese, so it totally made up for the salmon not being at its best.

This was actually an egg! It was soft boiled and crusted with planko crumbs. I have no idea how they exactly pulled this off! It was very interesting! It wasn’t much for flavour, but I think the dish had just the right amount anyway.

And of course our beautiful ladies Tasha, Jen & Cat:

And Amy, Moi and Jaime:

There were plenty of beverages had and the hockey game was blaring in the background and I think I was the only one in our group who was rooting for Sidney to bring home the cup! It might have something to do with living in Halifax and the enthusiasm here is very obvious that we are proud of “Sid the Kid”

At that point I had had quite enough, but our sweetheart waitress (who just happen to also be from Halifax and it was her first night on the job) handed us dessert menus and before we knew it, we were all sharing some chocolate fondue and a cheese platter (yup, more cheese!).

IMG_2957

I only tried about one nibble of the cheese since I was pretty cheesed out from the previous night ;-)

And then we head off for the Devil’s Martini where we ended up dancing the night away! IMG_2975_thumb

It was so much fun! I think we had a major bonding moment when “Journey” played and we all sang in unison like we were at a rock concert :-D

I was so happy to be able to go “clubbing'” with Tash (even though she was starting to come down with a major cold) because the two of us hadn’t done that since our University years!

There may have been a few round of shooters which seemed to appear out of no where :-D We pretty much owned an entire corner of the club and we pretty much were only concerned with ourselves and the good time we were having. I’m pretty sure we were having more fun than the rest of the crowd there ;-)

IMG_2967_thumb

This may be a little known fact around the blogsphere, but Cat can dance!

I think it was obvious that we all felt like old college buddies and not just me and Tasha ;-)

It was a late night, as you can probably tell!
