New Body, New Swing

It looks like I'm free and clear of the icky stomach and flu from last week so I'm totally back on track on the exercise front! Less than two weeks to the race! I took advantage of the beautiful morning yesterday and did a 7k run, pretty moderate-slowish pace, but still sweat ALOT in the 50+ minutes as there are many hills in my subdivision. And my heart rate monitor HAS to have something up with it because it said that I burned 1452 calories during the run and that just can't be the case. My max HR was 184 and my average was 164 which is exactly where it should be, but for some reason calculated I burned over 2 times more than I should have. My calorie burn should have been in the range of about 600. I can't seem to find my receipt for it either. Pffffffffffffft!!! I did buy it at the Running Room, but I have no receipt. I wonder if they are any good at helping a sister out anyway?

Later on in the day hubs and I and my Dad who was in for the weekend went to the driving range where I swung my clubs for the first time in 4 years. The last time I played golf was when I was 270lbs and no shoulder or hip issues. Basically I had a completely different body! I had to learn to swing all over again! Not just the passage of time, but I'm smaller now and I can hold the clubs more comfortably too. I hit a few good ones, but all in all I still pretty much suck :-D

None of that matters though because I always enjoyed playing golf (even if I sucked) and as long as we play with people who are there to enjoy a day outside playing golf and don't take it too seriously, then we have had a good round. It sure did fire up my trapezius pain last night though. BRUTAL. I'm some glad I have my massage therapy appointment tonight! Even still, I'm done waiting for it to get better because it's been 3 years since our car accident and I think it's pretty much safe to say that I'm not going to get any better. I miss golf! I'm probably always going to have soft tissue pain in that area. And that's just how it is. At least I'm not having those issues AND still 270 lbs. Now that would be something else.

Glad you're feeling better, congrats on the run! I think I have the same HRM as you (Polar F6?) Could it be your user profile? Check and see if maybe somehow your weight / age / other details got changed, or if you're somehow using a different profile?

Also, I'm not sure if you can do this on this model, but maybe there's a way to 'reset' everything? Or change the battery?

If Andrea's suggestion doesn't work, take it back.. My husband had a similar problem with his monitor and the Running Room took care of it.

If we could actually burn that many calories I would be exercising all the time :) I bet they will help you out with it. Do you still have the box or plastic that it came in?

Your HRM is crazy!!! Good run though even if you didn't burn 1400 calories!

That is a scary thought hey?? dealing with all of that and the extra weight???

I noticed a HUGE difference in my golf swing last year!!! I had to be re-taught - though I got taught by a pro and I am pretty friggin awesome...not to toot my own horn!!!

Running Room may have it in their system when you bought it. Worth checking... The least they could do is check all your settings (I am not sure what your V02 is set at or how much that would alter results...)
I recently had to mail my F6 back as it kept losing my HR. I thought it was just a battery issue but the transmitter had quit working. Thankfully it was under warranty. The service was good, just a pain to mail it in...

Lori: you're a genius! I did double check to make sure my user settings were right, but I frigged with the V02 without realizing what it was and it's up as high as it can go (based on what some other calculator said it should be I tried changing it). I don't even know what it is! Anybody care to explain?
