aha! I am always wise to the yearly traditional April Fools joke that is played on the radio every April Fools morning because April Fools Day is my birthday and I never ever forget that it's April Fools! People usually forget that it's April Fools Day though and it's fun to watch them rant and complain and get all pissy about whatever thing they are saying the government has decided to bring forward. teeheehee :-D People usually call in and start making a fool of themselves and then look like asses after :-D tee hee hee
So today I got a wonderful birthday gift from Mother Nature and that is a beautiful sunny Spring day! It's not supposed to be sunny the rest of the week I don't think, so I'll consider it a "solid" from Mrs. N herself...thanks! :-D
Plans for today include a visit to Lululemon and a Starbucks latte during my lunch hour. I have been wanting to buy a new yoga mat because I am currently using a Pilates mat for my yoga classes and it's way thicker and foamier than regular yoga mats. The extra coushin helps my knee for kneeling (where I had my ACL surgery because it's super senstive to any hard kneeling pressure) and it does the job quite well, but it's "squeekier" than regular yoga mats and I don't like being "noisy" during our quiet classes! So I'm on the hunt for a thicker, grippy yoga mat that won't squeek. My beginner yoga class instructor also pointed out to me that the coushiness of the mat I'm using may make some of the balancing poses more difficult, which is totally true! I rented a mat at hot yoga on Sunday just to test the difference and sure enough I wasn't nearly as wobbly doing tree pose. I couldn't figure out why I was having such a hard time with it before! I've checked Winners and they had none thick enough and I checked out that organic market in our neighbourhood yesterday and the ones they had were thin too. I swung by Lulu last night after the event at Pier 21 and they were closed, so I'm going to check it out this afternoon. (I might even score myself a b-day hot yoga mat towel too since I fancy myself a "hot yogi" now oh and maybe a new hat :-D) I hate being a walking Lulu poster child, but frig the stuff rocks and that's why I buy it, not because it's lulu, so whatevs.
Speaking of last night's events, it was the Telus Atlantic Community Board and it was a stand up and mingle type reception with some finger foods (oysters, shrimp, carrot sticks, celery sticks & misc. veggies to dip) and wine and there were a few speaches and presentation of money to the community. I ended up having a glass of wine and some shrimp, celery & carrot sticks and a few little other nibble the wait staff came around with. It ended up being kind of fun. It was a privilege to hear General Hillier speak. I was touched actually because there were these two ladies who were standing with us at our stand up table who we were chatting with and when General Hillier was amongst the crowd, she went running to go and see him. She came back with tears in her eyes and an autographed portrait of her son who serves in our millitary which said something like "Thank you for your service." She was so incredibly proud to have gotten that for her son who she told us had received a medal of honour for his heroic efforts in Kosovo. I remembered that I had a cousin who went to Kosovo during that time, but I was a bit too young to realize the significance at the time. The tears in her eyes were mix of pride and star struck. I don't think I'll ever forget that lady! Her son is alive and well.
Anyway, that's all another topic for another day, but that's my recap of last night's events!
Hubby told me this morning that MIL plans to come over to our place this afternoon to make a birthday dinner and have it ready when we get home :-D
P.S. Dear Anonymous: I just picked up the Fox Hill Plain yogurt yesterday and LOVE LOVE it! Thanks so much for your recommendation!

At home I use two yoga mats to give me that extra bit of cushioning for my knees. That might be a pain if you're carting your mats to classes though.
Happy Bithday Angie!!

You can always fold up your mat to give you extra cushioning--saves carting two around or having to buy a new one. Of course it's your birthday, so you should treat yourself!
