"What makes you fat, is what kills you"

is what she said in her podcast on Sunday...
Yes I went out and bought her new book. At the risk of feeling silly buying a book that is marketed to the diet industry (which is how they sell books), given that I'm "done" with the idea of a "diet" to make a person skinny, I know from listening to her podcasts that this book is about wellness. I'm really only interested in what she has to say about the badness in our food. I listen to her podcasts religiously and I respect what she has to say. I have been avoiding the Skinny Bitch books for fear of what the information in the book might "do to me," and turn me all vegan and everything, so I kind of turning a blind eye so to speak, but I think I'm going to brave this one and read it through. I've become a pretty clean eater over the last 6 months anyway, so I'm feeling a little more secure now reading about what the bad things in our food will do to me!

Haha, geez lady...you can read a book without agreeing wholeheartedly with everything it says! =)

(I'm avoiding the SB books because I'm afraid I'll get annoyed and whack someone over the head with it :P)

I want that book. And, thanks to you (ha ha) I am addicted to Jillian's podcasts, too. I'm trying to catch up on them but I'm still in December. lol

I have the Skinny Bitch book but I actually never read it.

I've been wondering how your "intuitive eating" was going!

I'm with Vanessa. From what I read about the SB book, I think I would do just that.

Keep in mind that not everything you read is true.

skinny bitch is not a good book, i feel like i wasted money buying it. the tone (cussing every sentence) is annoying and the information isn't that great, either.

if you want to know the same exact information in a much more professional and pleasing book (and far more informational), read fast food nation.

Van: yes totally true, I just didn't want to come across as though I've thrown the IE concepts to the way side.

Julie: I'll do a post on that soon

I love listening to Jillian, but I don't know that I can read a book all about the bad stuff in our food. *laughs* Typical avoidance. I guess I figure that I do the best that I can with what I've got, or at least as much as my willpower will handle. It's awesome when people have the motivation and willpower to eat all organic, and never touch a processed cupcake.... but I don't think I'll ever be that person. I'm going to go look for her new video with the 45 minute workouts though! lol

Interesting. Read Charlotte's review over at The Great Fitness Experiment this morning and I'll be interested to hear your take as well.

I'm heading over to Chapters this afternoon for this very reason ;)

PS. I read SB and was horrified, but I still eat meat so...

I have to stat listening to her Podcasts. The only reason I kind of shy away from her is that I don't really like the Biggest Loser mentality and have associated the negativity I have for that show with her. I guess that's not really fair to her and I'll see if I can get a hand on her book in the library.

Saw her on morning TV while I was away. I like what she had to say; think I'll check out the book :)

I've actually never checked out her podcasts, but I might have to! The book is deffinately one on my wishlist, I've heard a lot of good things about it! She was on Virgin Radio this morning doing an interview, I caught the last bit about sugars and artificial sweeteners which was fascinating! I'd love to read more about what she has to say!
