ZzZzZzZzzzzzzzzz

That is how I’m feelin’ tonight bloggies – I can’t wait for my head to hit the pillow.  Too much non-stop go-go-go methinks!  It’s hard keep up with you guys! lol

I started off the day with what else, but oatmeal!  I realized that I was all out of the regular rolled oats that I usually use, but I had some of another bulk organic oats variety.  I couldn’t figure out exactly what kind they were exactly.  They sort of looked like steel cut, but they weren’t.  They didn’t take very long to cook either.  I hate when I forget to write on the bulk bag the kind of oat that it is!  Anyways, let me test your oat-IQ and you tell me what kind I had this morning :-D:

I made my usual combo of late:

  • 1/3c oats
  • 1/2c unsweetened vanilla almond breeze
  • 1/2c water
  • 1/2 medium banana chunked and cooked in with the above
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp flax meal
  • splash of vanilla
  • splash of sugar free cinnamon dolce starbucks syrup
  • dashes of cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp chocolate PB2, constituted with water to be a bit runny to drizzle all over the top
  • 8g toasted walnuts sprinkled on top
  • 6g toasted unsweetened coconut chips sprinkled on top
  • B-IMG_0740

That and my cup of joe and I couldn’t even finish all of the oatmeal this morning.  It seemed like 1/3 of this type of oat made “more” than usual.

I had a mini Snack before lunch today and it was another one of those WW treats.  I must remember to look out for these little things tomorrow night when I hit the grocery store:

Lunch today was pretty much the same as yesterday.  The spinach salad was big enough to split into two servings, so I had the other half today:

And today I had the Mocha Liberte yogurt with chocolate PB2, strawberries & blackberries:

I felt snacky this afternoon too, so I had another delicious honeycrisp apple:

Supper tonight was: multigrain baguette, one lobster spring roll, Mediterranean salad (greens, red onion, olives, artichoke hearts, feta, pine nuts, dressing) topped with garlic shrimp skewer.  Not too bad when you consider supper at a restaurant!

And unfortunately I don’t have any pictures  :-(  I had an aunt visiting from out of town and she wanted to take me out for supper, so I met her at the Ramada hotel and we had supper at the hotel restaurant.  It was lovely to see her and to “get to know her.” This was the first time I had every actually gotten the opportunity to really “meet” her, so I didn’t feel comfortable whipping out my camera to take shots of the grub!  Most people who know me are used to it by now, but I’m pretty sure she’d think I was a little nuts!

Anyway guys, I am literally fighting to keep my eyes open and I may just watch Greys tomorrow night on the DVR because I need some serious sleep!

Your "steel cut oats" look good (=

I had oatmeal this morning too! It was so good! I am starting to enjoy just plain oatmeal with a drizzle (1/2 tbsp) of pure maple syrup. I also enjoy homemade applesauce on my oatmeal - it adds to the sweetness.

Great oats today - hmmm, I don't know but I'll venture that it's oat bran??? Just a guess since I don't really do oats. Well, unless it's in a cookie ;)

    Hope you get some rest!

    The answer is...
    it's scottish oatmeal!
(which is basically steel cut oats EXCEPT that they are cut into smaller bits)
You may have felt full because a serving of Scottish oats is considered 1/4 cup according to the Bob's Redmill Scottish Oatmeal!(I do find it more filling than rolled oats). The good news is they take a LOT less time to cut than steel cut oats-which take ages!!

You are like me...I have rolled oats and scottish oats and steel cut oats in my pantry.I used to read that steel cut oats were much better for you than rolled oats, but according to the LOW G.I. diet book, that is not so! Good to know as I am back on a kick of rolled oats, spoonful of crunchy organic pb ,and lots of warmed blueberries-yum!
