Well I am feeling much better today! Phew! That is a good sign :-) I am still sore, but just the regular workout soreness! I think that it wasn’t the yoga that did me in, but it was my BFF Jil! I think I may have pushed it too hard on the strength exercises. So since I was feeling better today, I decided to become friends again with Jil and give the Shred another go only this time I used the 2 lbs weights instead of the 3. I think I’m going to have to get some 5 and 8 lb weights too because these are otherwise too light for me except for one exercise and I think that’s the one that did me in on my “bad” shoulder on the deltoid muscle. Anytime I had worked on strength at the gym, I’d be using 12 lbs weights, but with shred, the combination with cardio and strength (and not having done strength in ages) took its toll. But I suck at pushups! I can only do about 5 “girly” pushups and them I’m struggling big time!
I did pretty well today calorie wise! I had a pretty low cal breakfast and I didn’t feel many hunger pangs throughout the day so that was great! I just went with it. For Breakfast today, I had some cinnamon Puffins with Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze and a cup of coffee with blend cream and sugar-free cinnamon dolce syrup. I love this cereal because it taste so much like cinnamon toast crunch! 3/4c = 100 cals btw:
And I had to of course pump up the protein content for a morning Snack since it was lacking at breakfast. I supremely enjoyed a Deep Chocolate Vitamuffin, warmed with 1 tbsp of PB2 on top = absolute heaven!:
Lunch was all good and filling. It was a salad with mixed mesclin greens, tomato, red onion, cucumber, carrot ribbons and fresh shaved beets! I drizzled it with a homemade balsamic vinaigrette made with my splurge aged balsamic and it was DIVINE:
I was doing okay hunger-wise this afternoon, but since I had planned on doing Shred when I got home and wanted to avoid the “pre-dinner-as-soon-as-I-get-home” snacking, I enjoyed a fruit & yogurt combo late in the workday afternoon of a mini Vanilla Liberte No Fat Probiotic Svelte Yogurt topped with 1 tbsp of Chocolate PB2 constituted runny enough to drizzle all over, then topped with fresh blackberries, blueberries and pom seeds. I luurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrve it:
When I got home from work I had it in my mind that I was doing Shred, so I got my stuff put away, chatted with hubs for a few minutes, got some “alouettes” in the oven and off I went. What are alouettes you ask? Well hubby is from Labrador City and that is on the northern border of Quebec and alouettes are a local treat of a thinly sliced long strip of meat (usually beef, but they would also make them themselves with caribou), and that is topped with a strip of bacon and seasoned with special spices and then they roll them up in a roll and stick them with a toothpick.
Since hubby has moved away, he’s been missing them because they don’t make them anywhere around here. MIL was just visiting in Sept-Isle, Quebec and came home with a treat of alouettes! I had two:
The red juice is not from the alouettes! It’s from the beets I put into my side dish! I sauted some chicken breast, red onion, zucchini, broccoli, leeks , swiss chard and some shaved fresh beets. Seasoned the works with S&P and garlic and topped it all with two stuffed pimento jalapeno peppers I got at Costco on Saturday:
It was delish and I missed having alouettes! Too bad we only have one package :-( :
And later on after I got the kitchen cleaned up, I had a little sweet tooth action, so I had a few cocoa gingersnaps and a Russell Stover no added sugar chocolate:
And I’m sipping on a Tetley Pomegranate Green tea with a few pom seeds squished in it:

OH and why “Tweet Tweet?” Because I finally bit the bullet and caved and checked out Twitter. I’ve been avoiding it forever almost purposely turning a blind eye to it for fear that I already had enough online hobbies/obsessions to keep me occupied, but Dale and Squishy finally twisted my rubber arm and I signed up! I'm using 5 lb weight for the Shred, and so far doing about half of my pushups girly and half regular. I think I'll try to make it up to the 8 lb weights and do all of my pushups the regular way before I switch to level 2...
I think my next mail order will be the Vitatops, they look so yummy. And my PB2 came finally, YES! And I love it. I've had it with oatmeal and drizzled on a WW fudge bar so far. Thanks for making it look so irresistible.
I just bought the cinnamon Puffins - looking forward to trying them! Oh, and the Shred, too. Tried it tonight - holy crap is all I have to say!

OMg...I suck at push ups....seriously...it's sad how few I can do, and how shaky my arms get..... You're doing amazing Angie and I'm so proud of all this amazing activity you're getting in!

Oh wow... I completely fail at pushups also.. it's the beginning of the workout and it kind of discourages me.. when I start to wimp out I kind of do half@ssed pushups like Joelle in BL did.
The rest of the workout is awesome though!!

I suck at pushups too! It's embarassing! I can usually squeeze out about 2 1/2 or 3 and then I have to drop the knees.
EVERYONE is talking about the Shred DVD. I'm like a gazillion light years behind everyone since I JUST tried Winsor Pilates. Geeeezzz.

I have the Shred too, and I'm using 5 lbs too. Jillian is killer! Do you listen to her podcasts at all? She does a radio show on Sundays on KFI AM 640 which is an LA station - you can get them on iTunes but it's kind of tricky to figure out how to get them, they are under a big heading called SUNDAY with a bunch of other radio shows.
ANYWAY, I love her radio shows, she just has so much good info.
P.S. That Vitamuffin looks phenomenal!
