Well here we are with another stormy Sunday in Nova Scotia. And to my anonymous Moksha yoga friend, I am sad to report that we had to cancel our Moksha hot yoga today due to the stormy weather :-( I was disappointed, needless to say. I was soooo looking forward to it. It was “too yucky for yoga” on Wednesday when the new yoga class in my neighbourhood was supposed to start too, so that’s twice it was cancelled this week. But I plan to make it a regular thing so it will not be the only and last opportunity to try it out!
But amongst the sad news of it being too yucky for yoga, there is good news here at my house! LOOK WHAT I GOTTTTTT!!!!
Yayyyyyy!!!!!!! Here she is! Our new Horizon E500 elliptical that we bought at Canadian Tire. It was pretty good deal and we had the space for the monster of a thing, so we went ahead and we go it! Not only was it 67% off, but hubby had $200 worth of Canadian tire gift cards from xmas and he put it toward the purchase so it was a SUPER DUPER good deal!
I put her on her maiden voyage before supper and we went for a 30 min jaunt to become acquainted with one another and it looks like we’re going to get along just fine :-D
The antibiotics are definitely helping :-) I am starting to feel much better, although around 25 mins on the elliptical my chest did start to bother me a bit too much, so I began my cool down from there all the way to 30 mins. Now that we’ve got the elliptical there is absolutely NO excuse for not getting in exercise during the week. That is a major convenience factor right there! I am not going to rely totally on it because that would be boring! Instead I plan on changing it up something to the tune of:
- Monday:
strength at the gymthe flooring guy called and is coming to the house at 5:00 to measure for the new carpet - will switch this with Tuesday and do elliptical instead and strength on Tuesday - Tuesday:
ellipticalstrength training switched with Monday - Wednesday: kripalu yoga (beginner II)
- Thursday:
strength at the gyman aunt from out of town will be in and is taking me out for supper :-) - Friday:
OFFOR class with the girls – maybe another hot yoga? - Saturday: OFF
- Sunday: hot yoga & elliptical
So needles to say, I am super excited about that routine and we’ll see how that works out! *edit* - see how you have to be able to be flexible and make it work when "life happens" - no excuses!!!
I went to bed pretty late last night watching Indiana Jones with hubby, so I also slept in this morning as a consequence. I made a pot of coffee and sipped on that and checked the weather and emails (the usual):
Then since my oatmeal was so terrific yesterday, I made it the same again today for Breakfast. The mix consisted of:
And since I woke up late, and had breakfast around 11:30, I was fine for a while. Hubby and I ventured out to Canadian Tire before the weather got too bad and when we finally got home, I decided I'd try this thinkOrganic bar I’ve been meaning to try for a Snack while putting the elliptical together. (see all the parts in the background?):
It was good and satisfying and very comparable to the Larabar. I would say this was a bit more chewy than a Larabar. I’ll be buying these again!
After we put the elliptical together, I did my 30 mins on it and then it was Supper time. Hubby actually requested that I make rice for supper (*gasp*) and since he’s really a newbie to rice (yes, it’s true), he insisted that he start out getting used to eating white rice. So I wasn’t going to argue, because you gotta start somewhere! So rather than make two different kinds of rice, I had a little bit of white rice with some rainbow trout and a sauté of onions, mushrooms, peppers, leeks, red swiss chard, bok choy, garlic and S&P. I squeezed some fresh lemon juice over top of the works and sprinkled some lemon zest and scallions on top too. It was sooooo delicious:
Hubby had plain white rice with some boneless skinless chicken breast cooked with some sweet & sour sauce and I had a few bites of his at the end which I didn’t get a picture of unfortunately. While cleaning up the kitchen, I munched on some of these awesome things:
After I blogged last night, I ended up digging into this bag of Skinny Sticks, Maui Wowie flavour and half of the bag is around 200 cals. I just love them and will definitely be getting these again!
And I don’t know if it was the extra cals burned on the elliptical or not, but I wanted an after dinner sweet something, so I had one of the little toblerone minis:
OH and I just remembered that one of you asked me where I bought the Amy’s Pizza I had on Friday night. You can buy them at the regular grocery store (at least you can here) and it is in the frozen section of the “health food” section. You can also buy them here in Halifax at Planet Organic as well. I almost forgot to answer that question, sorry! And that is it for today. The kitchen is closed!

Yay for the new elliptical! If you don't exercise I will be laying the smack down (and I expect the same from you). The next time we see each other me may both be at goal weights! How exciting!
Yay for new exercise equipment!
Dinner looks delish - all the veggies look fabulous! Mmmm!
Woohoo for the elliptical! Enjoy it :D
Glad to hear you're feeling better :)
You lucky @#$^@. I envey you soooooo much because I would love to have one of those. I am soooo happy for you. You will love it, and the calories you burn are great. It is my favorite machine at the gym. I go on it every time I am at the gym. Your really going to kickass with that machine.
you are soooo motivating!!!
Ugh, You're sooo lucky! I want one so badly!
Team Angie is going to kill with you having that machine at home!! I am kicking off the BLBE with a nice long sweaty workout tomorrow night!! Watch out for me!!
thats wonderful about the elliptical and way to go on the eating
whatever you do, don't let it gather dust like ours. Get on that sucker and ride, ride, ride!
I'm sure you'll get good use out of the elliptical. We bought a treadmill a year ago and I love being able to head down to the basement and hop on whenever I want.
I'll have to look for the Amy's Pizza. I found Amy's soups & chilis in the Superstore here recently, so I bought a can of the chili to try at some point. Wish we had Planet Organic or something similar here in Saint John, but as far as I know we have nothing like that. :(
Good work on the elliptical! And you did it without hymming and hawing for weeks too! Totally no excuses now! (just like me!)
I am SO glad that he went for it!!!! AND that it works great!!! I am sure you two will be LOVELY friends!!!!
I need to get myself some of those skinny chips...they used to sell them at walmart (not any more though)...I think they have them at Booster Juice though...I will have to go look!!!!
a few things:
1) i am so jealous of your elliptical! you lucky girl!
2) i listened to your BLBE radio interview and it's really great - professional!
3) president's choice blue menu has a product called rice and bean pilaf. it's so good and my boyfriend, who doesn't really like rice at all, loved it!
She's a beauty!! Hehe!
Aren't the Skinny Chips amazing, so many for so little calories, gotta love it! :)
