I Gotta New Ride!

I got me a shiny new red bike! It's a Supercycle 1800 18-speed Women's MTB bla bla bla and I got it at Canadian Tire. I've been saying for EVER that I wanted a new bike and every May they do a contest "A bike-a-day in May" on the radio and I always try to win one every year and never do, so I'm not waiting around this year! I came home today from work with the intention of going for a run. But I ate supper first which ended up being the stick-to-your-ribs type which was really heavy on the tummy. It was a slow cooker chicken taco stew. So my point is that it was too heavy for my stomach to recover from to go for a run, but I thought to myself if I had a bike, I could still definitely do that! I had done some Kijiji searches and saw a few, but this one wasn't expensive either, so off we went. I seriously haven't even been ON a bike in over 10 years, but it's just like they say :-)
My legs are going to get one helluva workout this summer between the running and biking! Oh and of course the helmet makes me look like a dork. :-P

I LOVE BIKING!!! Right now, it's my only means of transportation, but it's so much fun! If you're still in Halifax, the hills around the city would KILL ME!!

I digged out my old bike last summer and did a little... IT's quite the workout for legs!

Nice ride :) It will be so great for you to be able to bike around your neighbourhood this summer - it's a perfect place to be able to do that! And what a fun way to work out!

congratz on your new wheels!!!

I remember biking and as a child I loved it....When i get some of this weight off, I probably will have to get me a bike as well.

Great excercise and well my 9year old son would love a biking partner:)

How exciting!!!!! I really want to get a bike but Matt won't let me since we don't have a good road to ride on. You're going to love it!

OK, that's it. I now HAVE to get my bike out from the pile of crap in the garage! I'm jealous and need to try out the BLT trail with my cool green wheels.

Good for you for heading out to get it while the mood was with you. No procrastination for a rockstar like you! Enjoy!

And I bet yer a cute dork. :)

YAY Angie! So excited for you about your bike! It's very snazzy and hey, better to look a little dorky in your helmet than be injured, right? My guy took a tumble on a (paved!) bike trail last year -- there was just a bump he didn't see and down he went, right onto his head. It cracked his helmet. It's scary to think how badly he would have been injured if he didn't have it on!

Anyway, all this NOT to scare you, just to say that I'm glad you're wearing your helmet despite the dorkiness factor :)

Hope you have a blast with it!

Helmets don't make you look dorky (unless you're wearing it in the gym on a stationary bike). They make you look athletic and safe.

Enjoy your new wheels! (if you can manage to do any errands or go to work on it you'll be saving the environment and money too!)
